The big news today is that we booked a (very) last minute trip to Abu Dhabi. We leave in a week!?!
I have only been to the UAE once before and literally stayed for about 8 hours. Luke and I were on a layover from India to San Francisco and we choose a flight that would let us spend the night in Dubai with his good friend from college. Needless to say that going from India to Dubai was a total culture shock. Plus we arrived at night and left early the next morning so I never saw daylight in Dubai. All that being said, I am excited to see another part of the UAE , Abu Dhabi in all its glory day and night. We are staying with some great friends who live over there and who we traveled with recently to Cartagana.
A couple of things on my must see/do list:
Meet a real live camel (maybe even ride one if the opportunity presents itself.. just saying )
See the world’s largest Persian carpet in the stunning Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.
Visit a modern day souk designed by architect great Norman Foster
See the sand dunes of the awe inspiring Rub’ al Khali, the world’s largest sand desert
Take a dip in the Arabian Gulf
We are so excited to visit this part of the world. There are many many more things I want to see and promise to highlight the whole trip here – so stay tuned!

That’s great! Must be very exciting. Although camels… I have to warn you. They stink enormously (well they did in Mongolia) so wear old clothes
Have fun!! Looking forward to your posts about the trip. xx
